Triad Yoga Viritual Workshop Classes Full Workshop

Terry Brown, E-RYT500, will present the Triad Yoga Virtual Workshop Classes, Saturday and Sunday, November 14th - 15th, and November 21st - 22nd.

The workshop class descriptions and schedule:

Class 1 - Saturday, November 14th, 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Anatomy for Yoga Teachers - Spinal Integration with Twists and Backbends

Understanding anatomy and how the muscles are integrated into the practices of Yoga asana offer a successful way for Yoga teachers to help prevent injuries.  Sitting posture while driving and working, minimal daily activities, and mental tensions create rigidity in the spine.  Twists and backbends break up the tensions, creating a more youthful and vibrant spine.  After this practice, you will feel more energy flowing throughout your body, your breath will feel deeper, and the organs of the digestion and elimination will be regenerated.

Class 2 - Saturday,  November 14th, 1:30PM - 4:30PM - The Nervous System:  Anatomy and Yoga Practice

This class will teach the basic anatomy of the nervous system and how it functions as the communication network in the body.  Stress plays a great host to plenty of health challenges.  Our sympathetic nervous system can be over active, causing us to live in a continual state of fight and flight response.  This class will also present specific yoga practices that can benefit this system and improve the wellbeing of the body, mind, and emotions.

Class 3 - Sunday, November 15th, 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Asana and Pranayama:  Internal and External Practices

Pranayama serves as a link between the external and internal practices of Yoga.  According to the sage Patanjali, we apply the external practices first to help improve the body and improve energy levels.  Then with pranayama, we prepare for the internal practices and help master our senses and the mind.  It is the understanding within the Sutras, that with a disturbed mind, we will never be able to meditate.  This class will be a combination of asana, pranayama, and Yoga philosophy.

Class 4 - Sunday, November 15th, 1:30PM - 4:30PM - Your Spinal Traction Practices at Home

There is more than one way to do spinal traction other than on The Great Yoga Wall!  This class will take the time to explore how there are many different ways to help reduce spinal pain through traction practices that you can do safely at home.

Class 5 - Saturday, November 20th, 9:00AM - 12:00PM - The Immune System:  Anatomy and Yoga Practice

The immune system protects your body from outside invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and toxins (chemicals produced by microbes).  It is made up of different organs, cells and proteins that work together.  Yoga practice can help stimulate the flow and rhythm of the immune system and improve overall health.  This class will review the anatomy and guide us on a gentle journey to help heal this often neglected system.  This class also includes a class discussion on the book, "Fire of Love", by Aadil Palkhivala.

Class 6- Saturday, November 20th, 1:30PM - 4:30PM - Sequencing, Linking, and Teaching Skills Laboratory

When a teacher is skilled at presenting common elements between poses, the student learns the skills more effectively and finds it easier to commit to memory.  Also, linking instructions helps students to learn to integrate the actions of one body part to another.  Encouraging a student's awareness during the practice of Yoga asana should be one of the main objections of a skilled teacher.  This will be an interactive workshop with exercises and sharing!

Class 7 - Sunday, November 22nd, 9:00AM - 12:00PM - Mastering Your Yoga Observation Skills:  Seeing Your Students' Spines

Observation mastery is a teaching art form and a highly effective way to help advance your student's poses, assist them with their form, and build trust in the student-teacher relationship.  Developing the ability to watch your students allows you to gather an incredible amount of information from the student's posture, movement patterns, and overall body language.  This information helps you address a student's asymmetries, imbalances, and weak areas.  This will be an interactive workshop with exercises and sharing!

Class 8 - Sunday, November 22nd, 1:30PM - 4:30PM - The Spine, the Thorax, and the Diaphragm

This class will look at how tension and stress creates challenges in the thorax and around the spinal column in this area.  This also includes stuck stress the area of the diaphragm.  This class will review Yoga practices to help improve mobility of the thoracic spine and the ribs.  Also this area includes restrictions in the areas of the armpits and across the breastbone that Yoga can address.  This class gives us the tools to move the body toward improved posture and relaxed breathing.

Full workshop $240.00, or $215.00 if registered by November 6th.  Individual classes $30.00.  Registration is available under "Workshops".  You will be emailed class links.

Triad Yoga's 300 Hour Teacher Certification Program Module 3 has been redesigned due to studio operating restrictions related to COVID-19.  So that the full weekend doesn't need to be a long weekend of virtual classes, the module has been split into 2 weekends.  The training will be presented in a series of short workshop classes that anyone with a regular practice can participate in right in the comfort of your home!  The anatomy and Yoga asana classes are all related to the spine and thorax, the nervous system, and the immune system.  This module includes pranayama classes, philosophy talks, and classes on mastering teaching instructor skills.
