Module 2 - Class 7 and Class 8 Triad Yoga 300 Hr Certification Program

Module 2 Workshop Class 7:  The Sacroiliac Joint:  Anatomy, Joint Dysfunction, and Yoga for Stabilization

The sacroiliac joint connects the pelvic bones to the sacrum.  The primary function of the sacroiliac joint is to absorb shock between the upper body and the pelvis and legs.  The joint is reinforced with strong ligaments surrounding it.  This network of soft tissues should provide support, limit movement, and assist with absorbing pressure.  The primary mechanisms of SI joint dysfunction include too much movement (hypermobile) and too little movement (hypomobile).  The tools of yoga offers practices that will help with either condition.

This class also includes a discussion on how Yoga Teachers can be role models for ethical behavior.

Module 2 Workshop Class 8:  Standing Poses for Pelvic Stability and Spinal Health

Understanding how to practice standing poses with focus on the power of the legs can help create stability around the pelvis and strength to support the spine.   When done correctly, standing poses not only strengthen the muscles that protect the knee and ankle joints but they help you build a better foundation for your whole body.

This class also includes a class discussion on the book A New Earth, by Elkhart Tolle.
