A Journey Within the Psoas & Diaphragm

The top most fibers of the Psoas mingle with the respiratory Diaphragm in a relationship called interdigitation, an interlacing of fuzzy myofascial connective tissue (like fingers interlacing).  Connective tissue shares in a body-wide system that extends into each and every cell affecting our physical, mental, and emotional vitality.  Over time we develop myofascial holdings in this tissue through emotional and/or physical trauma, repetitive injuries and postural imbalances.

This practice will include meditation, pranayama, asana and somatic movements as taught in SATYA, (Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement).  The somatic practice will allow for deep relaxation within the body's tissues and nervous system.  Most of these movements initiate from the fibers of the respiratory diaphragm and adjoining fibers of the iliopsoas.

Prerequisites:  Six months of yoga experience, not appropriate for acute injuries, and must be able to get up and down from the floor.

Sheila is currently enrolled in the SATYA Certification Training with Tias and Surya Little in Santa Fe, NM.  This training introduces new neural pathways into the body, helps counter blockages in the connective tissues, joint spaces, circulatory and nervous system.
