Kids Yoga Kid's' Yoga classes combine yoga postures with games, stories, music, art and more! Research has proven that yoga makes for calmer, happier, healthier little ones and is especially great for those children who have been diagnosed as "attention deficit". The class will be taught by Kymber Owens, certified in children's yoga at the Asheville School of Yoga and Massage and The Asheville Yoga Center. She is also a mother of a two year old (who is already doing yoga!) and is a community activist who works for youth education and youth empowerment.
The schedule of the classes, Spring Garden Studio:
Tuesdays - 3:15PM - 3:45PM - Ages 3 - 5
Tuesdays - 4:00PM - 5:00PM - Ages 10 - 12
Fridays - 4:00PM - 4:45PM - Ages 6 - 9

Topics presented will include general sequences that can be practiced at home or on the Yoga Wall, as well as how to sequentially prepare the body for the more challenging postures, therapeutic sequences, pranayama practices, and meditations.
July 8th - The Stretch Class
Have you ever felt tight all over and thought that it would be nice to stretch just about every muscle in your body? Have you left a yoga class and felt like there was some part of you that got overlooked? Take this class and experience stretching every muscle group we can find and leave feeling like you've had a full body massage.
July 15th - Yoga Practice for Cardiovascular Health
A clear misconception about yoga is that it doesn't offer a practice to improve the function of the cardiovascular system through aerobic activity. The experience in this class is to demonstrate and experience how the yoga asanas can be sequenced and practiced to increase the heart rate, circulation, and respiration, resulting in overall improved health.

Yoga as Therapy - July 25th - 26th - with Terry Brown This workshop is an essential 10 hour workshop for yoga instructors to help learn how to customize yoga poses, breathing techniques, sequences and restorative practices for specific students with specific challenges.
As yoga instructors, we realize that we are continuously presented with students with diverse conditions. Studies are showing us more and more that using the tools of the ancient art and science of yoga can have great physiological, neurological, and emotional benefits.
This 10 hour seminar workshop will give you basic tools to help meet many of your students' needs. Learn when should you use the asana variations for some students and when you should introduce meditation and chanting. Also, learn what breathing techniques are appropriate for different student types.
You will understand important information to gather from your students when working with them in private settings. Also, presented in the workshop will be information related to what current research is showing us and what conditions yoga instructors can safely address.
Workshop fee $150.00, or $135.00 by July 15th. Please see Workshops for more infomation.
