Alice Beecher
Alice Beecher has been experiencing Yoga since 1969. She received her certification from the International Yoga Teachers Association and has over 30 years teaching experience. Alice has studied in India and continues to attend workshops with internationally known instructors throughout the country. She practices and teaches Yoga as a way to integrate the whole being. She is an engaging teacher who enjoys introducing people to Yoga. Alice teaches college students, conducts group classes and private sessions.

She advocates that from the mat to the grocery store line there is room to think yoga in our everyday lives, opening the door of practice to every body type. Incorporating her love for running, hiking, and sports in general she is sincere in helping students listen to their bodies, find joy in the moment, and peace on the mat.

Cory Stephenson has practiced yoga for nearly a decade and earned her teaching certification from the Triad Yoga Institute through their 330-hour training program. She has taught students ranging in age from 5-80 and considers yoga to be a means of peace and personal growth for all. With her background in dance, she teaches a dynamic style of yoga that incorporates breath, flowing postures, and a sense of joy in physical expression.

Gareth Griffith, R.Y.T., has studied yoga since 2000. He has an MS degree in Biomechanics, and incorporates his yoga experience into the coaching of high school athletes. Gareth likes to expose yoga to people of all walks of life and likes to explore the range of benefits, from therapeutic to performance sharpening. In his classes, he formulates a yoga experience that is comfortable, enjoyable and accessible for a wide-range of practitioners.

Gary Dickson, R.Y.T., completed the Triad Yoga Institute 330-hour Teacher Training Program in 2007. He followed his wife into Yoga as a way to find inner peace and to gain balance in his physical body. Recently retired from a long career in science, Gary has focused on the skills and techniques of teaching Yoga to older students. He recently completed a program at the Duke Integrative Medicine center on teaching yoga and therapeutic yoga to seniors. As a senior himself, Gary delights in sharing the journey into maturity with others.

Jerry Cunningham, R.Y.T.,and co-owner of TYI, was found by Yoga in 1995. His 200-hour certification was with Lillah Schwartz at Lighten Up! Yoga Center in Asheville, NC. He completed his 500-hour certification, graduating from TYI's Yoga Vidya in March, 2008. Jerry has enjoyed numerous classes and workshops with a variety of teachers and Yoga styles. He blends those different styles with his own, believing that Yoga is for everyone, even those with tight bodies and limitations such as his own!

Kishie was first introduced to yoga while in college, and has been hooked ever since. She completed the TYI 200 hour teacher training in 2010, and received her certification to teach children's yoga at the Asheville Yoga Center. Kishie has three children, and credits her yoga practice for teaching her the value of living in the present moment and finding contentment in all of life's journeys. She feels so lucky to be sharing her love of yoga with students of all ages!

Martha Garrett, E-RYT 500, has been teaching Yoga since 1995. Her own certification was strongly alignment based and she has also been inspired by teachers Donna Farhi and Eric Schiffmann. Her classes are tailored to meet the needs of a variety of physical abilities with focus on proper alignment, use of the breath, and the creation of a light heart. An artist and teacher of art, she understands how to encourage students uniquely in their practice while creating an arena of challenge and support.

Nancy Thornton loves to teach Ashtanga Yoga. This system of yoga presents an intelligent combination of postures and breath. As the class moves from sun salutations to standing, seated and inverted postures the breath slows down as the bodies heat up. Nancy currently studies with Matthew Sweeney of Australia who emphasizes the importance of using the breath as the link to move in and out of the postures, enhancing our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Other areas of study are Prenatal & Postnatal Instruction, The Radiant Child Program, the science of Ayurveda, and is also a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. A former licensed Physical Therapist, Susan brings to her Yoga practice and teaching a compassionate and caring manner, as well as a deep knowledge of human anatomy, physical disabilities and limitations. She completed the 330-hour Yoga Teacher Certification at TYI in 2004 and TYI's Yoga Vidya 500-hour certification in March 2008. Susan is especially interested in the therapeutic applications of Yoga and loves teaching the older Yoga student.

Terry Brown, CPYI, E-RYT 500, co-director of the Triad Yoga Institute, has been a student of Yoga and meditation since 1984. Terry's extensive journey in the study of Yoga has led him to study with a variety of teachers and traditions, however he now considers Aadil Palkhivala, founder of Purna Yoga, his main teacher and influence. Terry is a certified Purna Yoga Instructor and licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. He teaches alignment-based asana to enhance the connection of the energetic and physical bodies, thereby enhancing the yoga poses' benefits and healing effects. Terry also combines his knowledge of the human anatomy and experience in working with physical limitations into his teaching.

Co-owner of The Triad Yoga Institute, Terry teaches Purna Yoga, founded by Aadil Palkhivala and his wife Mirra. Purna Yoga distills and integrates the vast aspects of Yoga into an invaluable set of tools for transformation and healing.
