Gentle Yoga
This class is designed for yoga students that want a less rigorous class than Level 1. This class is appropriate for students who are stiff, not very strong, or just want to enjoy Yoga accessible to everyone. It is ideal for students working with injuries or limited range of motion.
Level 1
This class if for anyone wishing to experience the many benefits of Yoga, regardless of age or physical challenges. Introduction to fundamental Yoga postures, alignment principles, breathing, and relaxation. Learn the many benefits of Yoga including improved flexibility, strength, and balance. This class if appropriate for students that have no experience in the practice of Yoga. New students may join at any time during the session.
Level 1-2
This class is for students that have completed Level 1, but would like to develop their practice of the Level 1 postures before moving into Level 2. This class is taught at a moderate pace with emphasis on breathing and healthy alignment of the body and mind. This class is appropriate for students with physical challenges wishing to deepen their practice, but may not feel ready for Level 2.
Level 2
This is an ongoing class for students who want to deepen their Yoga practice. Students should complete Level 1. Refinement of previously learned poses as well as new Yoga poses. Preparations for inversions are introduced.
Level 2 Power Yoga
Students should complete Level 1 and have no physical limitations. This challenging class is an energetic series of flowing postures for the students who like to practice a vinyasa style of Yoga. The primary series of Ashtanga is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and stamina while generating heat in the body and developing meditative awareness.
Level 2-3
This class is appropriate for dedicated students, aspiring and current yoga teachers. Required skills are all the poses from the lower levels plus Headstand and Shoulderstand Cycle.
Level 3
This class is for students who have a consistent yoga practice and are ready for new challenges. Students should be strong in standing poses, able to push up into Upward Facing Bow Pose unassisted, able to perform Shoulderstand and Headstand with confidence and practice Full Arm Balance against the wall.
Mellow Mondays
Start your week out with Mellow Mondays, a relaxing restorative class that will begin with basic openers to prepare the body to relax, and then continue with 2 or 3 restorative poses, before ending with a long Savasana. All levels are welcome.
Power Flow
Power Flow is an energizing and fun class that links breath with flowing movement. The instructors will guide the class with a creative and challenging sequence, helping students to build up their physical strength and stamina, develop more flexibility, and discover a new sense of freedom. Students should have completed Level 1 and should understand the fundamentals of alignment as well as how to work within their limitations.
T`ai Chi Ch`uan
A classical Chinese system of exercise, meditation, and self-defense, the fluid movements of T'ai Chi Ch'uan (tie-chee-chwan) reduce stress and increase strength, balance and flexibility. Suitable for all fitness levels, the practice of this ancient martial art system is said to promote the suppleness of an infant, the strength of a tiger, and the wisdom of a sage.
Themed Class***
This class is held every other Thursday evening at 7:20PM. Each class is taught by rotating teachers with different topics. Take this opportunity to explore the many different benefits of Yoga! Please check the Announcements Page for the scheduled dates of this class.
Yoga for the Core
Deepen your practice through detailed instruction, frequent handouts, and an ongoing emphasis on how to strengthen the all-important core. This class is appropriate for all students Level 1/2 or above.
Yoga Stretch
This is a class for athletes, weight lifters, or students with limited range of movement from inactivity, or anyone wishing to use Yoga practices to improve flexibility. The focus of this class is to help students design a practice that can help them improve their flexibility in all areas of the body. Improved flexibility has many benefits, including improved physical health, decreased pain and tension, and improved feelings of overall well-being. Appropriate for any level student.
Yoga Therapeutics and Exercise
Yoga should be for everyone, regardless of physical limitations. This class honors that not everyone is able to get down to and up off of the floor, so many of the poses are adapted to be performed seated in a chair. This class is appropriate for conditions such as MS, Parkinson's, heart conditions, back pain, range of motion limitations, extreme stiffness or general overall weakness. This class may include standing poses for those that are able but these too will be adapted per student's needs.
